Valentine’s Day: How to celebrate in the midstate region

Valentine’s Day is tomorrow. If you’re still not sure how or where to celebrate with your sweetheart, here are a few ideas from around southcentral Pennsylvania.

Chocolate-covered February: Treat yourself to a month of tempting events in Hershey. Offerings include Chocolate-Covered Children’s Teas at Hershey Lodge, Wine & Chocolate Pairings at The Hotel Hershey, Martini Mixology at Hershey Lodge and sweet specials at The Spa At The Hotel Hershey. “Hearts and Souls”: Wrightsville art gallery Weavings, Ink. will present a show of romance and relationships in time for Valentine’s Day. It will feature the pen and ink drawings of Robert Oughton, weavings by Phyllis Koster and antiques from the collection of Mary Beth Sloat. The show runs Feb. 22. “From the Heart”: The Hanover Area Arts Guild is presenting the sales exhibit Feb. 4 to 28 at its headquarters, 32 Carlisle St., Hanover. Crafters and artists created expressions of their feelings in many different media. It will be open 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. Tuesdays and Thursdays; noon to 7 p.m. Wednesdays and Fridays; and 10 a.m. to 3 p.m. Saturdays. Naylor Wine Cellars: Valentines can also attend the Lover’s Wine Dinner 3:30 to 6 p.m. Feb. 15 or 2:30 to 5 p.m. Feb. 16. The four-course meal by Michael’s of Windsor will be paired with Naylor wines. Cost is $40 per person.

Sonnets, Sweets, and Shakespeare: Listen to eight of William Shakespeare’s sonnets, including one from “Romeo and Juliet” Feb. 15 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 9 N. Main St., Dover. The evening will being with period music at 6:30 p.m. Sonnets and songs will follow. Cost is $5 per person. Valentine Dinner and Dance: Take your partner for a spin on the dance floor 7 to 11 p.m. Feb. 15 at the Valencia Ballroom, 142 N. George St., York. Doors open at 6:30 p.m., and dinner is served at 7 p.m. Guests can enjoy a multi-course meal with a choice of two entrées and dessert and a cash bar. Dancing starts at 8 p.m. The Gettysburg Big Band Orchestra will perform. Dress is black tie optional and attendees are welcome to wear red or red accents. Cost for dinner and dancing is $49. A Valentine’s Day Dessert Potluck Dance: Attend the event Feb. 14 at Agape Healing Center, 907 Roosevelt Ave., York. Bill and Lynette Baker will be teaching a tango beginning lesson 7 p.m. and an intermediate dance lesson 7:45 p.m. Open dancing is 8:30 to 11 p.m. with music by Studio 5 productions. “Gracey” for You Valentine’s Dance: Dance to live music 6:30 to 10:30 p.m. Feb. 15 at Grace United Church of Christ, 1947 New Holland Pike, Eden. Single adults and couples are welcome. Admission is $6 a ticket or two tickets for $10. Light refreshments will be available. A portion of the proceeds benefits The Tree House Project at Alder Health Services.
